India’s very own sports car, DC Avanti, has received a performance upgrade. This is called DC Avanti 310 and is a limited edition as only 31 units will be rolled out. The 310 in the name stands for 310 BHP which is a massive 60 BHP more than the regular version. Tuned through the same engine, the Limited Edition Avanti now costs Rs 44 lac, ex-showroom, approx Rs. 8 lac more than the regular version. Bookings for the Avanti 310 are on and deliveries will commence in 2016. The first DC Avanti was delivered on April 16, 2015 after being showcased for the first time at the 2012 Auto Expo.
Adding to the 60 BHP, the car has gained more visual appeal as well. It now comes with carbon-fibre front splitter along with a rear diffuser, new colour scheme which makes the newly added spoiler stand out and new alloy wheels in a black shade. Inside, Avanti gets Alcantara leather sports seats and steering along with a reworked digital instrument display. The car is offered in three colours schemes namely grey with green, white with blue and matte grey with orange.
The limited edition uses the same engine block, Renault-sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine which now produces 310 BHP and comes mated to an optional six-speed automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters. Result, a 0-100 km/h time of 6 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 200 kmph. This edition also receives stiffer anti-roll bars and a reduced ride height of 150 mm, which is 20 mm closer to the ground than its sibling.
