Xiaomi towards Air Quality Monitor

Xiaomi appears set to expand its home appliance portfolio with the unveiling of an air quality monitor on Wednesday. The Chinese conglomerate has released a teaser on its Weibo account, hinting at the arrival. The air quality tester will be launched at 7.30am IST on the company's MIJIA crowdfunding platform.

The image teaser shows a small square-shaped device sitting neatly atop a table displaying what appears to be air quality (on the PM2.5 particulate matter scale), battery strength, and the Wi-Fi strength. This device will join the Mi Air Purifier family in the Xiaomi pool of product categories. With the Mi Air Purifier, users have to access a separate app to see the air quality, and this device looks to fill that gap. It could just be a standalone device giving all the information without having to look at an app. This device could do much more than just display air quality numbers, and more clarity will only be achieved once the device is launched on Wednesday.
Xiaomi has released two Mi Air Purifier variants, and the second variant made its way to India this September. Priced at Rs. 9,999, the device is the first smart home product that was launched in the country. It was sold recently in the Diwali sale as well. Xiaomi recently also launched the Mi Note 2smartphone with a two-sided curved design and 6GB of RAM.
Now, the company has been tipped to gear up for the launch of Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A smartphones. Both the smartphones showed up on Tenaa certification site, where key specification and photos were leaked. The all-metal smartphones are expected to sport an octa-core processor, a fingerprint sensor, and come in two RAM/storage bundles.
